	This is Hotel. However, it may be 2nd Platoon and not 1st. It was taken sometime around late July or early August. Hotel had finished bridge security at Liberty Bridge and we had been moved to security for Hill 65. We were doing road security for the road that ran from Hill 25 past Hill 65 to Dai Loc. I had been company radio operator, but got medivaced with Malaria. When I came back after spending a short time in Hell laying on clean white sheets, putting up with air conditioned buildings, and suffering from cooked-to-order food I found that they had moved a new guy into Company radio op. I felt guilty about kicking someone out of the company radio op position so I said I would go back to a squad or platoon if they needed someone. I went to a squad in 2nd Platoon for awhile and back to 1st squad, 1st Platoon with Jim Parton as squad leader. The picture is of the platoon getting hot chow delivered to us on the road. The box was full of COLD MILK and as I recall the hot food was a hamburger. Life could be good at times even in the bush.

These two photos were taken at the same time. I was with 1st squad and it was late July or August. We were on a patrol to the area of the road near the section of your map labeled "Lady Bird Park". At that location we set up a position that was supposed to provide road security. We really couldn't figure out just exactly what we were supposed to be doing other than preventing someone from burying a booby trap in the road during broad daylight. I am sure they waited until dark and then when we were pulled back they came out and planted the mines.

		I think some of the guys in that shot were part of Armstrong's gun crew. You may have known Armstrong. He was a black guy from Jamaica who was slightly crazy, but one hell of a master with the M60 machine gun. When that picture was taken Armstrong was off with one of the local working girls.
