| Below are a couple of pics of me, Terry Toenges. After 'Nam, I went to Camp Pendleton to K Co. 3/3 5th MEB for six months. Then I was separated. I moved to New York and worked at the UN for about four years. I got tired of the rat race and moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in mid Missouri for about four years. I went to boat mechanic school down there. I moved back to St. Louis in '79 and sold real estate for about five years and had a wood stripping and refinishing business called Sgt. Stripper for about 3 years. I reenlisted in the active Marine Reserves in '83 and did that for 2 years. In '85, I transferred to inactive reserves until '95. I got promoted to staff sgt. in the reserves. From '85, I worked at the Vietnam Veterans Leadership Program as a counselor/p.r. guy/computer whiz, and worked there until '93 when I started receiving 100% disability from the VA for PTSD and malaria. In '90 I got a B.A. in Media Communications from Webster University. I got married in '87 to Linda who is a stateside Army veteran. She had three kids and we now have two grandkids. "Grandpa" is the best job I've ever had. In '98, we got tired of the big city life and moved to Park Hills, population about 7000, about 50 miles south of St. Louis. We bought a "This Old House" type house in town. A traffic jam to us now is ten cars on Main Street. Our next step will be a house in the boonies somewhere. |
