I sometimes have problems with the front wheels of my Bachmann HO 4-4-0s derailing.  Here is my solution for fixing the problem by adding weight. Note - I'm still figuring out  my brand new digital camera so the photos are a little blurry

Twist the front truck sideways as much as possible and wiggle it with a little downward pressure to disengage it from the loco.

Once it is free, remove the washer and spring. It takes a little wiggling to get the washer off.

By measuring the truck, I determined that I needed a piece of weight about 13/16" x 3/8".

Using A-Line's 1/32" lead sheet, I used a single edge razor blade cut a piece 13/16" x 3/8".

Once I had the piece cut, I used a file to smooth the edges.

Then I drilled a hole in the center of the piece and elongated it so it would fit over the black plastic retainer on the truck.

Put a couple of dabs of super glue on the truck, then fit the lead piece on the truck and press it down.

The lead is easy to work with so you can fit it to the contour of the truck. Then put the spring and washer back on.

It takes a little more wiggling to get the truck back on the loco and you're all set.
